Term | Definition |
Eclipse | The partial or total blocking of light of one celestial object by another. |
Equator | An imaginary line forming a great circle around the Earth’s surface that divides Earth into northern and southern hemispheres |
Hemisphere | Either the northern or southern half of the Earth as divided by the equator, or the eastern of western half as divided by a meridian, especially the prime meridian |
Phases | Any of the forms, recurring in cycles, in which the moon or a planet appears in the sky. |
Revolution | The motion of an object around a point, especially around another object or a center of mass. |
Rotation | The motion of an object around an internal axis |
Seasons | A period of an object around an internal axis |
Solstice | When one hemisphere gets its maximum area of sunlight, while the other hemisphere gets its minimum amount |
