Term | Definition |
Lungs | Two sac-like respiratory organs in the chest. |
Trachea | Main airway that runs from the bottom of the throat to the lungs. |
Diaphragm | A flat muscle located at the bottom of your ribs. |
Bronchi | Two main branches of the trachea that goes into the lungs. |
Lung Capacity | Amount of air in the lungs after deep inhalation. |
Inhalation | Breathing in oxygen, moves into the lungs. |
Exhalation | Breathing out. Carbon Dioxide is moved out of the lungs. |
Alveoli | Small air sacs, site of exchange of gases. |
Respiration | One inhalation and one exhalation. |
Bronchioles | Each bronchi becomes increasingly smaller. |
