| Septum | A wall that separates the two nostrils. Made of bone in the back and cartilage towards the front |
| Nasal Cavity | Large space found inside the head above and behind the nose. The bottom of the nasal cavity is the roof of the mouth |
| Mucous Membrane | Lines the inside of the nose. Warms the air, moistens it, and filters it. Makes mucus |
| Cilia | Small, microscopic hairs. |
| Olfactory | Refers to the sense of smell. |
| Olfactory Bulb | Enlargement of the olfactory nerves. Located at the top of the nasal cavity at the bottom of the brain. |
| Nostrils | The nose's two holes. 2 nostrils- divided by a septum. |
| Receptors | Nerve endings that respond to stimulation. |
