Epidermis- | top layers only 1 or 2 cells thick, dead skin |
Dermis- | "true skin". ex; smooth muscle, nerves, blood vessels, fat cells, oil glands, sweat glands, pores, hair follicles. |

Digestive System- | everything we do requires energy, food=energy, puts food into form cells can use. |

Mouth- | food is broken down into small bits and mixed w/ saliva- made of water, mucus, and enzymes. ★carbs are broken down, complex carbs are broken down into simple sugars (glucose) |
Esophogus | muscular tube that connects mouth to the stomach |
Peristalsis | series of muscle contractions that pushes food down toward the stomach |
Stomach | main site protein digestion; physical digestion☚smooth muscle;chemical digestion☚gastric juice |
small intestine | site of lipid digestion; fat is hard to digest-gets help from gallbladder- which makes bile- a base to help digest fat |
