hypothesis | a statement of what you think will happen during an investigation |
observation | something you find out about objects, events, or living things by using your senses |
experiment | use of scientific methods to test your hypothesis |
variable | something that can change in a test |
control group | the group that doesn't get the treatment |
procedures | step- by- step instructions for completing a task |
models | a objects or ideas that represent other things |
surveys | questionnaires that are given to a number of people whose answers are recorded and then analyzed |
sampling | scientists examine random individuals from a population |
independent variable | one that you can control |
dependent variable | an independent variable changes |
experimental group | the group that get the treatment in a test |
data | information from which a conclusion can be drawn or a prediction can be made |
precision | ability to consistently repeat a measurement |
accuracy | ability to make a measurement that is as close to the actual value as possible |
inference | a conclusion based on observations |
evidence | observations that make you believe that something is true |
