| experiment | use of scientific methods to test your hypothesis |
| variable | something that can change in a test |
| control group | the group that doesn't get the treatment |
| procedures | step- by- step instructions for completing a task |
| models | a objects or ideas that represent other things |
| surveys | questionnaires that are given to a number of people whose answers are recorded and then analyzed |
| sampling | scientists examine random individuals from a population |
| independent variable | one that you can control |
| dependent variable | an independent variable changes |
| experimental group | the group that get the treatment in a test |
| data | information from which a conclusion can be drawn or a prediction can be made |
| precision | ability to consistently repeat a measurement |
| accuracy | ability to make a measurement that is as close to the actual value as possible |
| inference | a conclusion based on observations |
| evidence | observations that make you believe that something is true |
