Amiodarone Classification | Antiarrythmic |
Amiodarone Action/Kinetics | Blocks Sodium channels at rapid pacing frequencies. Decreases sinus rate. Increases PR and QT intervals. After IV, it relaxes vascular smooth muscle and reduces afterload. |
Amiodarone Indications | VF and pulseless VT refractory to Defibrillation. Stable VT and Unstable VT refractory to cardioversion |
Amiodarone Dosage Adult | Pulseless VF/VT: 300mg IV push (Consider repeating: 150mg IV push in 3-5 min) Wide Complex Tachycardia(Stable)- 150mg rapid infusion IV/IO |
Amiodarone Dosage Pedi | Pulseless VT/VF: 5mg/kg IV/IO Bolus |
Atropine Classification | Antiarrythmic, anticholigneric, antidote |
Atropine Action/Kinetics | Anticholinergic that inhibits the acetylcholine at the parasympathetic neuroeffector junction, blocking vagal effects on the SA and AV nodes. This enhances conduction through the AV node and speeds heart rate. |
Atropine Indications | Hemodynamically significant bradycardia. Asystole, organophosphate poisoning or nerve agent exposure. PEA with slow complex rate |
Atropine Dosage Adult | Bradycardia- 0.5mg-1.0mg IV/IO every 3-5min as needed up to 3mg. Asystole- 1mg IV/IO ever 3-5min up to 3mg Organophosphate poisoning- 2mg until patient is stable |
Atropine Dosage Pedi | Bradycardia/Asystole- .02mg/kg IV/IO up to 0.5(child) and 1.0(adolescent) may repeat once in 5min. |
Epi Classifications | Sympathmimetric, cardio stimulant, broncodilator, antiallergic, vasopressor |
Epi Action/Kinetics | Stimulates alpha and beta-adrenergic receptors within sympathetic nervous system. strengthens myocardial contraction and increases cardiac rate. Increases myocardial and cerebral blood flow during CPR |
Epi Indications | Cardiac Arrest, VF, Pulseless VT, Asystole, PEA, Anaphalixis, Asthma(COPD) |
Epi Dosage Adult | Cardiac Arrest- 1mg (1:10000) IV/IO every 3-5 min during CPR. No max Anaphylaxis- 0.3-0.5 (1:1000) IM/SQ: Good perfusion 0.3-0.5 (1:10000) IV/IO: Poor perfusion or hypotension Asthma- 0.3-0.5mg IM/SQ (1:1000) |
Epi Dosage Pedi | Cardiac Arrest- 0.01mg/kg (1:10000) IV/IO up to 1mg Anaphylaxis- 0.01mg/kg (1:1000) IM/SQ up to 0.3mg |
