Indication   Substitute for ASA, when not tolerated or is contraindicated, to reduce fever and/or is temporarily relieve mild to moderate pain

Contraindications   Not to be used continuously for > 10 day for adult or > 5 days in children, Hypersensitivity to drug or phenacetin, children< 3 yrs old unless directed by physician, Avoid repeated admin to patents with anemia pr hepatic disease. Use with caution in arth

Adverse Reactions   Ac poisoning, hypoglycemia. CNS Dizziness, lethargy GI Anorexia N&V epigastric or abdominal pain diarrhea, hepatotoxicity, Hepatic coma, AC renal failure Other diaphoresis, chills

Drug Interactions   Ch co-admin of barbiturates, carbanazepine,phenytoin, and rifampin may increase the potential for Ch hepatotoxicity or Ac acetaminophen overdose.

Admonistation   Adult 325 – 650 mg PO q4-6 hrs with max 4g/daily. PR dose 650mg q4-6 w/max 4g/day Pediatric 15mg/kg q4- 6 hrs not to exceed 5 doses/ 24 hrs unless prescribed by physician
