|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Circulatory System | The system that contains the heart and the blood vessels and moves blood throughout the body. This system helps tissues get enough oxygen and nutrients, and it helps them get rid of waste products
🗑
| Pulmonary Circulation | the part of the circulatory system that transports oxygen-poor blood from the heart to the lungs for oxygenation, and then returns the oxygen-rich blood back to the heart
🗑
| Systemic Circulation | the part of the circulatory system that carries oxygenated blood from the heart to the rest of the body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to tissues, and then returns deoxygenated blood back to the heart through veins
🗑
| Alveoli | Tiny air sacs at the end of the bronchioles (tiny branches of air tubes in the lungs) where the lungs and the blood exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide during the process of breathing in and breathing out
🗑
| Heart | a muscular organ that pumps blood throughout the body
🗑
| Aorta | the body's largest artery, carrying oxygenated blood from the heart to the rest of the body
🗑
| Vena Cava | a large vein that carries deoxygenated blood from the body to the heart to get oxygen
🗑
| Superior Vena Cava | a large vein that carries deoxygenated blood from the upper body to the heart's right atrium
🗑
| Inferior Vena Cava | a large vein that carries deoxygenated blood from the lower body to the heart
🗑
| Arteries | tube-shaped blood vessels that carry oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the body's tissues and organs
🗑
| Veins | blood vessels located throughout your body that collect oxygen-poor blood and return it to your heart.
🗑
| Capillaries | delicate blood vessels (tubes that hold blood) throughout your body
