Denotations and Connotaions | The denotations of words are the plain dictionary meanings. The connotations of words are the emotional associations of words.
🗑
Literal and Figurative Meaning | An author may use words to tell plain facts: a literal meaning. Or the author may use words to give the text deeper meaning, to add imagery, or to make the text poetic: a figurative meanning.
