| Stomodeum | - Primitive oral cavity
- Separated from the foregut by buccopharyngeal membrane
- Formed between 3-4 weeks by invagination

| Intermaxillary segment | - Bilateral medial nasal processes

| Primary palate | - The part of the palate formed from the median nasal process. The first palate is to form anterior to the secondary palate.

| Secondary palate | - The palate proper formed by fusion of the lateral palatine processes of the maxilla.

| Tuberculum impar | - Central tissue of the tongue eventually overgrown by the two lateral tissues.
