Enzyme   A protein that acts as a biological catalyst to speed up specific biochemical reactions.

Biochemical Reaction   The changing of one molecule into a different molecule, inside a cell.

Catalyst   A substance that starts or speeds up a chemical reaction.  
🗑
Activation Energy   The energy needed to activate (or start) a chemical reaction.

Product   The molecule that was changed by a biochemical reaction.  
🗑
Reactant   The molecule at the start of the reaction that will be changed by the enzyme. Most reactants are substrates.

Active Site   The specific part of an enzyme that binds to a substrate.  
🗑
Substrate   The molecule acted on by an enzyme.  
🗑
pH   A measure of how acidic or basic a substance is.
