| How are xylem and phloem alike and different? | Both are vascular tissues and used for transporting materials in a plant. Xylem is different because it transports water and minerals from the roots. Phloem is different because it transports food (sugar) from the leaves to the rest of the plant.

| How do roots, stems, and leaves work together to maintain life in a vascular plant? | The roots absorb water and minerals into xylem and anchor plant down. Stems transport the water/minerals in xylem to leaves. Leaves use the water for photosynthesis to create food in chloroplasts. Phloem is found in all 3 and used to transport food.
