| oxygen | a respiratory gas needed by cells to make energy

| carbon dioxide | a waste gas from cells that needs to be removed from the body

| BTB | an indicator chemical called bromothymol blue that turns yellow in the presence of CO2 in water (because CO2 in water makes a weak acid). It turns back to blue if the CO2 is removed from the water by photosynthesis of water plants.

| carbonic acid | the acid produced when CO2 is bubbled through water

| photosynthesis | A reaction that occurs in plant cells (in the chloroplasts) that produces glucose & oxygen from water, ( CO2 & sunlight H2O + CO2 + sunlight → C6H12O6 + O2 )
