Student grant scheme   This is the main source of financial help available from the government for students in full-time Post Leaving Certificate Courses (PLCs) and full-time higher education courses.

Fund for students with disabilities   This fund aims to make sure that students can take a full part in their course and are not disadvantaged by their disability.

Student assistance fund   This fund provides help for students who are experiencing financial difficulties whilst they are at college.

Back to education allowance   This provides help for students who are in receipt of certain social welfare payments to carry on claiming whilst they are studying full time

Bursaries and scholarships   These are specifically targeted at students with limited means, students with disabilities and students from minority ethnic groups.

Sponsorship   This is when a company might sponsor students financially and provide work experience and training.
