simple skills   a skill that is straight forward, requires little concentration and ability. e.g. jumping

age & maturity   a child must have the ability to visually track moving objects before they can possibly catch a ball

previous experiences   involvement in games and activities that allow kids to develop skills similar to those needed for more advanced physical activities.

motivation & desire   in early childhood development, the concept of "physical education" is associated with play. interest and excitement can easily be generated in kids and adults by keeping activities new and challenging.

level of fitness   children who can resist fatigue and sustain the rigours of physical activity are much more likely to succeed at an early age. the longer you can practice or participate in an activity the more success you will achieve. Success leads to enjoyment.

motor skills - GROSS   involve large muscles, precisions is not too important. e.g. plying sports

motor skills - FINE   involve small muscles,requires high degree of precision eg. playing the piano

motor skills - PRACTICE METHODS   to learn and improve skills, practice is required

motor skill - DISCRETE   there are clearly defined beginning and end points. Usually brief action e.g. tennis serve

motor skill - CONTINUOUS   the movement has arbitrary beginning and end points. repetitive fashion e.g. swimming

motor skill- SERIAL   when a discrete skill is put in a series or sequence e.g. shooting an arrow in archery
