Trochlear Function and Assessment Method   EOM, specifically, moves eyeball downward and laterally.

Trigeminal Opthalmic Branch Function and Assessment Method   Sensation of cornea, skin of face and nasal mucosa. While client looks up, lightly touch the sclera with sterile gauze. Test light sensation using cotton over the forehead and the paranasal sinuses.

Trigeminal Maxillary Branch Function and Assessment Method   Sensation of skin face and anterior oral cavity. Test skin sensation on forehead and paranasal sinuses.

Trigeminal Mandibular Branch Function and Assessment Method   Muscles of mastication, sensation of the skin of the face. Ask client to clench teeth.

Abducens Function and Assessment Method   EOM, moves eyeball laterally. Assess directions of gaze.

Hypoglossal Function and Assessment Method   Protrusion of tongue, moves tongue up and down and side to side. Have client protrude tongue at midline, the move side to side.
