Cell Parts 4th

QuestionAnswer
What is the diagram for cells, organs, organisms, tissues, and organ systems? Cells^tissues^organs^organ systems^organisms
Cells are: The basic unit of structure and function in living things
Cell examples: Blood, bone, nerve
Tissues are: Made up of cells that are similar In structure and function and which work together to preform a specific activity
Examples of tissues: Blood,nervous,bones
Organs are: Made up of tissues that work together to perform a specific activity
Organ examples: Heart, brain, skin
Organ systems are: Groups of two or more tissues that work together to perform a specific function for the organism
Organ system examples: Circulatory, nervous, skeletal
Organisms are: entire living things that can carry out all basic life processes. Meaning they can take in materials, release energy from food, release wastes, grow, respond to the environment, and reproduce
examples of organisms: bacteria, amoeba, mushroom, sunflower, human
Eukaryotic cells are: cells that contain a nucleus
examples of eukaryotic cells: plant and animal cells
Prokaryotic cells are: cells that do NOT contain a nucleus
examples of prokaryotic cells: bacterial cells
Both plant and animal cells are what type of cells? eukaryotic
only plant cells contain what three parts? cell wall, large central vacuole, and chloroplast
plant cells are only found in what? plants
animal cells are only found in what? animals
what is the cell wall: provides and maintains the shape of the cell and serves as a protective barrier
what is chloroplast: contains chlorophyll and is the site of photosynthesis in plant cells
what is the large central vacuole: food and water storage in plant cells
what is the cell membrane: controls what molecules are allowed into and out of cells; also known as the phospholipid bilayer and it is semi-permeable
what is the mitochonria: provides energy for the cell through cellular respiration; known as the powerhouse of the cell
what are lysosomes: garbage disposal of the cell; contains digestive enzymes to break down waste
what are ribosomes: makes proteins, located on the rough endoplasmic reticulum and in the cytoplasm
what is the nucleus: control center of the cell, contains DNA
what is the cytoplasm: jelly-like fluid that fills the cell
what is the golgi complex: processes, packages, and distributes proteins

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
