Personification | A type of figurative language in which nonhuman subject is given humancharacteristics. An example, sorrow walked through my door and sat down next to me. |
Metaphor | A figure of speech in which two unlike things are compared without the use of "like or as" |
Onomatopeia | The use of words that imitate sounds: Examples: Crash, bang, clang |
Simile | A figure of speech in which two unlike things are compared with the use of "like" or "as" |
Hyperbole | The use of "exxageration" in a work of literature. |
