Nomenclature The study of the naming of organisms in the fashion that reflects their evolutionary relationships
Monophyletic Group A group of organisms descended from a single ancestor
Evolutionary Systematics the study of the classification of, and evolutionary relationships among animals. (Construct evolutionary pathways)
Phylogenetic Systematics Study of the phylogenetic relationships among organisms in which true and false characteristics are differentiated.
Ancestral Characters Attributes of species that are old and have been retained from a common ancestor.
Synapomorphy
Biological Species Concept defined as a group of populations in which genes are actually, or potentially exchanged through interbreeding
