Nursing nutritional assessment

Nutritional status degree of balance between nutrient intake and nutrient requirements
Adulthood: nutritional status stabilize, important time for patient education to reduce negative lifestyle factors
Elderly: normal changes affecting nutrition poor dentition, decreased visual acuity, decreased saliva production, slowed gastrointestinal motility, decreased gastrointestinal absorption, and diminished olfactory and taste sensitivity
BMI normal 18.5 to 24.9
BMI overweight 25 to 29.9
BMI underweight <18.5
Obese 30 or greater
