What is phonological awareness? The ability to translate letters into sound after understanding that the letters have sounds.

How can you teach the letter and sound connections? present the letter and model the sound
How can you teach sounds and letters and sounds and words connections? present the letter and model the sound then model each sound of the word then blend the sounds to make the words
For beginning readers what should the top priority be for a teacher's schedule? Practice and review phonological awareness and word recognition as the child needs it and make it a top priority.
