The Process of Science, Science and Social Responsibility

| Control | goes through the experiment but is not exposed to the factor being tested |
| Model | a representation of an actual subject |
| Data | the results of the experiment, must be observable and objective |
| Conclusion | Statement made following an experiment as to whether the results support the hypothesis |
| Scientific theories | Concepts that join together well-supported and related hypotheses |
| Principle/law | a term considred appropriate for theories that are generally accepted by an overwhelming number of scientists |
| Independent variable | varied factor, what is changed, what is being tested |
| Dependent Variable | variable that is measured, result or change that occurs |
| Technology | the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes |
