LAIV Precaution receipt of specific antivirals (amantadine, rimanatadine, zanamivir, oseltamivir) 48 hours after vaccination;avoid antivrals for 14 days after vaccination
LAIV side effects transient nasal congestio, headache
TIV administration 6 mos-8 yr old first time get 2 doses 4 weeks apart; severe egg allergy see allergist; for less severe egg allergy (hives): use TIV wait 30 min by healthcare professional experienced with egg allergy reaction
strain specific vaccine offered usually in fall to protect against highly contagious respiratory infections; influenza
