4. What is the difference between mass and weight? mass is the amount of matter you are made up of-it does not change weight-is the effect of gravity on the mass

10. Compare the moons rotation to its revolution? almost the same (rotation is 27 1/2 days; revolution is 29 1/2 days)

12. Know the different phases of the moon, when they occur in the cycle and what the name means? 13. What is the moon's terminator? The line between light/there is no twilight zone (are where light gradually dims/it is a sudden change
14. How long does a total solar eclipse last? several minutes to 30 seconds

16. Be able to figure a persons weight on the moon? gravity is 1/6 that of the earth/120 pounds person weighs 20 pounds on the moon

18. What is the name of the most spectacular crater on the moon? Tycho (by the South Pole) has bright streaks called rays-some rays are 1600 km long/Maria-dark areas on the moon-Maria derived from Latin word for seas-singular-mare/mountains-named like those of the earth

23. How is the near side and and the far side of the moon different? near side faces the the earth and far side faces away from earth
24. Is the near side of the moon and the dark side of the moon the same thing? NO! BACK SIDE AND DARK SIDE ARE NOT THE SAME THING
24. Why or why not? The near side faces the earth and the dark side faces the sun
25. What are cusps and in what direction do they point? horns of crescent moon/they point away from the sun
26. What is the revolutionary period of the moon from point outside the earth? 27 1/2 days
27. What is the moon's perigee? nearest point to the earth 356,000 km
27. Apogee? farthest point from the earth 406,000 km
28. Compare the diameter of the moon to some area on the earth? 3475 km/ less than the width of the USA
29. Compare the shape of the moon to the earth. almost a perfect sphere
30. Why does the same side of the moon face the earth? revolves at the same rate that it rotates
31. What shape does the moon's orbit have? almost a perfect sphere
