A body of water where the fresh water of a river meets the salt water of the ocean. Many marine animals use this are as breeding grounds. estuary
An area along the rocky shoreline, between the highest high-tide, and the lowest low-tide. intertidal zone
A region of shallow water in an area where the edge of a continent extends into the ocean for a short distance, life a shelf, below the low-tide line. neritic zone
