PART2.
HOMEOSTASIS && CELL TRANSPORTATION
| VOCAB | DEFINITION |
|---|---|
| cytolysis | In the hypertonic world, the cells gain so much water its causes the cells to blow up and eventually pop. example: imagine blowing a bubble with gum and then after it gets too big, it pops, similiar situation. |
| faciliated diffusion | The process of faciliated diffusion is like a little castle and only certain people are permitted, and in that castle faciliated diffusion is the gate accepting only certain cells through. |
| carrier proteins | Some molecules may be permitted into the castle but are not the right shape to fit through the gate. which is why the gaurds, or the carrier proteins are used to help get them through the gate. |
| ion channels | Ion channels is like a gated community sometimes the gate is open and sometimes closed. this is another example of passive transport. |
| active transport | requires a cell to expend energy ; ENERGY IS USED |
