Light, Temp, Water

The affects of light, temp, and water on plants

QuestionAnswer
Signs that a plant is getting too much sun (4) flower petals dry out, leaf edges look burnt or dry, flower color looks washed out, the plant wilts
Signs that a plant is not getting enough light (5) Slow growth, plant leans toward light, distance between stems is wide, fewer buds and flowers, stems are tall
If temps are to high or too low for a warm season plant this will happen The plant will not make fruit
What happens to photosynthesis when you increase temps It increases, until it gets too hot
What happens to flowering during warmer weather Warmer weather triggers some plants to flower
What happens to many plants when it gets cooler Many plants (such as grasses and trees) go into dormancy or sleep.
Low temperatures can result in poor plant growth
Early warning signs of not enough water Flower petals and buds fall off, leaves then shivel, stems flop, roots go limp
