Weather Refers to the state of the atmosphere at a specific time and place.
Tempature Is a measure of the average amount of motion of molecules.
Humidity The amount of water vapor present in the air.
Relative Humidity Is a measure of the amount of water vapor present in the air compared to the amount needed for saturation at a specific Tempature.
Dew Point Changes with the amount of water vapor in the air.
Stratus Clouds Usually form at low altitudes and may be associated with fair weather or rain or snow.
Fog When air is cooled to its dew near the ground, it forms a stratus cloud
Precipitation Water falling from clouds
Air mass Is a large body of air that has properties similar to the part of Earth's surface over which it develops
Front A boundary between two air masses of different density, moisture, or temperature
Tornado A violently rotating column of air in contact with the ground
Occluded Front Involves three air masses of different temperatures cold air, cool air, and warmer air.
Stationary Fronts occurs when a boundary between air masses stop advancing.
Warm front forms when lighter, warmer air advances over heavier, colder air.
Cold Front occurs when colder air advances toward warm air.
Blizzard A severe winter storm
Meteorologist Is a person who studies the weather.
Station Model shows the weather conditions at a specfic location on earth's surface.
Isotherm A line that connects points of equal Tempature.
Anemometers have strong rotating cups that spin faster when the wind is strong.
Wind Vane has an arrow that points in the direction from which the wind is blowing.
