abiotic factor The nonliving parts of an ecosystem
adaptations Behaviors and physical characteristics of a species that allows them to live successfully.
biotic factor The living parts of an ecosystem.
community All the populations of species that live in the same habitat and interact with each other.
Competition Two or more organisms or populations trying to use the same resource.
Commensalism A symbiotic relationship where one organism benefits and the other organism is unaffected.
Emigration Individuals leaving a population.
Habitat Where an organism lives.
Immigration Individuals entering a population
Limiting factor A scarce resource that limits the size of a population.
Mutualism A symbiotic relationship where both organisms benefit.
Natural selection The process where organisms develop changes that make them better suited to their environment.
Population A group of organisms of the same species that live in a specific area.
Parasitism A symbiotic relationship where one organism benefits and the other is harmed.
Carrying capacity The largest population that an environment can support at any given time.
Symbiosis A close association between 2 or more species.
Ecology The study of living things and how they interact with each other and their environment.
Ecosystem Different communities interacting with each other and their environment.

Barnacle grow on the side of whales. Barnacles get a home. There is no harm to the whale. Commensalism

Athlete's foot grows on human feet and causes burning and itching. Parasitism
Some organisms can blend in with their environment to avoid predation. camoflage
