troposphere 1st layer - lowest (inner) layer of Earth's atmosphere - where we live
stratosphere 2nd layer - contains ozone layer - on top of troposphere
mesophere 3rd layer - middle layer - protect Earth's surface from being hit by most meteroids
thermosphere 4th layer - outer most layer - even though air is thin, it is very hot - divided into two layers - ionosphere & exosphere
ionosphere lower layer of the thermosphere - energy from sun causes gas molecules to become electrically charged - roadio waves bounce off ions and back to earth.

scientist divide earth's atomospher into four main layers based on temperatures tropospher, stratosphere, mesosphere and thermosphere
sphere where Earth's weather occurs troposphere
Sphere where the ozone is located - 2nd layer stratosphere
