monocytes A large, circulating, phagocytic white blood cell that has a single well-defined nucleus and very fine granulation in the cytoplasm and that constitutes from 3 to 8 percent of the white blood cells in humans.
macrophage a large white blood cell, occurring principally in connective tissue and in the bloodstream, that ingests foreign particles and infectious microorganisms by phagocytosis.
neutrophil a phagocytic white blood cell having a lobulate nucleus and neutrophil granules in the cytoplasm.
platelets small platelike body, esp. a blood platelet
endothelial a type of epithelium composed of a single layer of smooth, thin cells that lines the heart, blood vessels, lymphatics, and serous cavities.
