heliosphere the protective bubble around the Solar System that is carved by the Sun’s solar winds blowing out into space
asteroid pieces of rock or a combination of rock and metal that usually follow a regular orbit around the Sun
meteroid a small rock fragment from an asteroid or comet
meteor a meteoroid that enters the earth's atmosphere
meteorite a meteoroid that lands on the earth's surface
Kuiper Belt region of the Solar System outside the orbit of Neptune that is occupied by small, icy comet- like bodies
Oort Cloud a spherical region of comets that surrounds the Solar system.
Astronomical Unit (AU). distance between the Earth and the Sun (150 million km.) Used as a standard measurement for the huge distances in space.
