Matter in Motion

QuestionAnswer
What is Speed? The distance traveled divided by the time interval during which the motion occured.
What is Motion? An object's change in position relative in a reference point.
What is Acceleration? The rate at which velocity changes over time; an object accelerates if it's speed, direction,or both change.
What is Velocity? The speed of an object in a particular direction.
What is Force? A push or a pull exerted on an object in order to change the motion of the object; force has size and direction.
What is Net Force? The combination of all of the forces acting on an object.
What is Newton? The SI unit for force.
What is Friction? A force that opposses motion between 2 surfaces that are in contact.
What is Gravity? A force of attraction between objects that is due to their masses.
What is Mass? A measure of the amount of matter in the object.
What is Weight? A measure of the gravitaional exerted on an object; it's value can change with the location of the object in the universe.
