BURDEN OF DISEASE A health indicator that combines mortality data with morbidity data

LIFE EXPECTANCY An indication of how long a person can expect to live
MENTAL HEALTH State of well being in which the individual realises his/her own ability, can cope with the normal stress of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make a contribution to his/her community
MORBIDITY Refers to ill health including injury, disease, illness and disability
MORTALITY Amounts of deaths occurred in a population in a given period of time
PHYSICAL HEALTH Refers to the efficient functioning of the body and itssystems, and includes the physical capacity to perform tasks and physical fitness
SOCIAL HEALTH Being able to interact with others and particpate in the community in both independent and cooperative way
WHO definition of HEALTH A state of complete physical, mental and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity
