?What is ventilation? act of breathing
What is inhalation? diaphragm contracts, moves down, volume of chest cavity increases-air moves in
What is exhalation? diaphragm relaxes, moves up, volume of chest cavity decreases= air pushed out

What is control of ventilatio rate? nervous system which sets the rate of contractions for the diaphragm

How does breathing begin in newborn babies? once the umbilical cord fails to provide gas exchange, the co2 increases to level
What are the steps in gas exchange? Ventilation, inhalation, gas exchange in the body
What is hypoxia a diagnostic term referring to reduced oxygen to the tissues
What is anoxia? a diagnostic term referring to lack of oxygen to the tissueswhich can result in tissue death
