Chapter 7 vocabulary

What is salinity? a measure of how salty water is
What is an aquifer? the layer of rock and soil that groundwater occupies
What is a water table? the top level of groundwater in an aquifer
What is a reservoir? an artificial lake that forms behind a dam
Define evaporation. the changing of liquid water to a vapor
What is condensation? water vapor turns into a liquid
What is precipitation? water that falls from the clouds as rain, snow, sleet or hail
What is sublimation? is when ice changes into water vapor without first becoming liquid
What is sleet? frozen raindrops
