How are igneous rocks formed? When magma or lava cools.
What is the structure of igneous rocks? Crystalline.
What are examples of igneous rocks? They include basalt, granite, and pumice.
How are sedimentary rocks formed? They are formed when layers of sediment settle and harden.
What is strata? The build up of layers in sedimentary rocks.
What type of rocks are most fossils found in? Sedimentary rocks.
How are metamorphic rocks formed? When igneous or sedimentary rock is changed by heat and pressure over time.
What are examples of metamorphic rock? They include limestone, marble, slate, quartzite, and most commonly schist and gneiss.
What are examples of sedimentary rock? They include sandstone, shale, and limestone.
