Atom The smallest particle of an element that still acts like that element.
Nucleus The center of an atom that contains protons and neutrons.
Proton The positively charged particle in the nucleus.
Neutron The neutrally charged particle in the nucleus.
Electron The negatively charged particle that surrounds the nucleus.
