Muscular Strength, Power and Endurance

QuestionAnswer
What is muscle strength? Ability of a specific muscle group to generate torque at a particular point
When is the size of the rotary component at its maximum? When the muscle is oriented at 90 degrees to the bone.
From where is muscle stength derived? The amount of tension the muscles can generate and the moment arms of the contributing muscles with respect to the joint center
What is muscular power? The product of muscular force and the velocity of the muscle shortening; product of net torque and angular velocity at the joint
What is muscular endurance? The ability of a muscle to do continous work over a long period of time
Define muscle fatigue The muscle's loss of its ability to contract as a result of overactivity; opposite of endurance
How does increased body temperature affect muscles? An increase in body temperature increases the nerve speed and muscle function
At what temperature is muscle function most efficient? 38.5 degrees Celsius (101 degrees Fahrenheit)
