| revolution | earths yearly orbit around the sun |

| solstice | is the day when the sun reaches its greatest distance north or south of the equator |
| equinox | occurs when the sun is directly above earth's equator |
| mantle | portion of the interior of a planet or moon lying between the crust and the core |
| moon phase | are different forms that the moon takes in its appearance from earth |
| new moon | when the moon is between the earth and the sun |
| waning | less of the illuminated half of the moon |
| full moon | occurs when all of the moon's surface is facing earth reflecting light |
| solar eclipse | occurs when the moon moves between the sun & the earth & cast its shadow over part of earth |
| maria | flat regions |
| lunar eclipse | when earth's shadow falls on the moon |
| comet | space object orbiting the sun formed from dust and rock particles mixed with frozen water,methane,& ammonia |
| impact basin | depression left behind by an object striking the moon |
| waxing | more of the illuminated half of the moon |
