burccinator muscle cheek helps in blowing, sucking and shewing, pushing food against the teeth
platysma under the chin depresses the mandible, widens mouth, and tenses the skin of the neck
extrinsic muscles connect the tounge to other structures in the head and neck genioglossus, hyoglossus, styloglossus, and palatpglossus
glossus back of throat
muscles of mastication temporalis, masseter, and medial and lateral pterygoid muscles
hyoid muscles superior to hyoid-digastiric, geniohyoid, mylohyoid, and stylohyoid. inferior-omohyoid, sternohyoid, and thyrohyoid
principle flexor of neck sternocleidomastioid-keeps head on shoulder, and three scalenes
extensors of head located in the back of the neck trapezius, splenius capitis, and semispinalis capitis
