define radioactivity The process by which an unstable nucleus gives off nuclear radiation.
define Mass Number The sum of the numbers of protons and neutrons. in the nucleus of an atom.
What is Radioactivity also called? Radioactive Decay.
What is an Isotope? A isotope is an atom that has the same number of protons as the other atoms of the same element do but that has a different number of neutrons.
what can stop Alpha particles? Paper
What can stop Beta particles? Aluminum
What can stop Gamma Rays? A few centimeters of lead or a few meters of concrete.
What is a half-life? The time needed for half of a sample of radioactive substance to undergo radioactive decay.
What causes the most damage to you? Alpha Particles
