definition of metamorphosis growth and development
direct metamorphosis the egg hatches to a stage that looks like an adult, but is smaller and not mature
incomplete metamorphosis (simple or gradual) ex. dragonflies the egg hatches to a small larva which may look different from the adult (called a nymph or naiad)
complete metamorphosis ex. moth the egg hatches into a larva(eats a lot, then changes into a pupa (neither eats or moves)and then hatches into an adult

"terrestrial crustaceans" mean crustaceans that live on land
isopods -type of crustacean- have legs that all look the same like pill bugs (roly poly) and sow bugs
exoskeleton skeleton on the outside of the body
"arthro- " means jointed (think arthritis refers to joint inflamation)
"-pod" means leg
description of crustaceans body many body segments, adn many legs (at least10); often have claws or pinchers and 4 antennae; almost all live in water and have gills
