What do ribosomes do? Ribosomes produce proteins for the cell.
What does the endoplasmic reticulum do? The endoplasmic reticulum moves things from one part of a cell to another.
What do chloroplasts do? Chloroplasts convert sunlight and carbon dioxide into clorophyll and the plant uses clorophyll for food. This is also known as photsynthesis. (is only in plant cells)
What do lysosomes do? Lysosomes break down large food molecules and make the smaller. (uncommon in plant cells)
What does the nucleus do? The nucleus controls everything that happens in the cell.
What does the nucleolus do? The nucleolus makes ribosomes.
What does cytoplasm do? The cytoplasm allows the organelles to move.
What does the golgi body do? The golgi body receives proteins and other materials and sends them to other parts of the cell.
What does the mitochondria do? The mitochondria takes energy from food and convert it into energy for the cell.
What do the vacuoles do? The vacuoles store thins for the cell.
What does the cell wall do? The cell wall protects the cell. (only in plant cells)
What does the cell membrane do? The cell membrane controls what can go in and out of the cell.
What is an organelle? An organelle is a tiny structure inside the cell that carries out specific functions.
Who is Robert Hook? Robert Hook is an English scientist who built his own compound microscope and first discovered cells.
What is cell theory? Cell theory states that all living things are made of cells, cells are the basic units of structure and function in living things, and all cells are produced from other cells.
Who are Schleiden, Schwann, and Virchow? They are 3 German scientists who made cell theory.
