Focus the point below the earth's surface where movement of rock produces an earthquake.
Tsunami an oceanic tidal wave caused by an earthquake.
what is the crust? Solid outer layer of the earth.
what is a converging boundary? when 2 plates come together.
what are s waves also know as? Secondary waves.
what are p waves also known as? Primary waves.
what is Pangea? a "supercontinent" that formed 200 years ago.
what is an earthquake? A sudden shaking of the ground, sometimes causing great destruction, as a result of movements within the earth's crust.
what is magnitude? the measure of how strong an earthquake is.
what is a transform boundary? when 2 plates slide past each other.
what is a diverging boundary? when 2 plates move apart.
what is a richter scale? an object that measures the strength of an earthquake.
how are plates moved? Convection currents.
what is subduction? when one plate is pushed under another.
What is the hottest part of the Earth's Structure? The Core
Where is the mantle found? between the crust and the core.
Seismograph used to measure the strength of an earthquake.
what layer of the earth is the thinnest? The crust.
What is the layer beneath the lithosphere? the asthenosphere.
