Describe health? Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being.
What is fitness? The word fitness describes our ability to meet the demands of life safely and effectively without exhaustion or undue stress.
What are the six attributes of total fitness? Emotional/Mental, Social, Medical, Nutritional, Spiritual, Physical Fitness. FItness is the capacity to combine all these aspects to facilitate positive health and maintain optimal quality of life.
Which five components explain physical fitness? Cardiovascular, muscular strength, flexibility, motor skills and muscular endurance
Define cardiovascular fitness? the ability of the heart and lungs to take in, transport and utilise oxygen
Define muscular strength? the ability of a muscle or group of muscles to use maximum force.
...... is the ability of a joint or joint complex to work to its full range of movement. flexibility
Define motor skills? the ability to perform a range of skills such as balance, agility, speed, co-ordination, power and reaction time
Define muscular endurance the ability of a muscle or muscle group to perform continual repetitions
What are the factors affecting health, physical fitness and training potential? Genetical (hereditary, body type, gender) and Lifestyle (everyday activity, health status, age, diet)
What are some of the health outcomes for at least 30 mins of regular, moderate-intensity physical activity? Normalise blood pressure, decrease risk of CHD, decrease high cholesterol, promote bone density, weight management... improve confidence and well-being... improve stability and posture
