| Transpiration | The process of which plants release water vapor into the air through their leaves. |
| Evaporation | The process of liquid water changing into water vapor (a gas). |
| Water Cycle | Water moving above, across, and through Earth's crust and ecosytems in this process. |
| Renewable Resources | Any natural resource that can be replenished naturally over time, ex: water, solar, wind, geothermal. |
| Surface Water | Water found on the surface of continents and islands. Ex: rivers, lakes, springs, streams and swamps. |
| Ground Water | Water located within the gaps and pores in the rocks below Earth's surface. |
| Aquifers | Water that collects in large Underground "lakes." |
| Precipitation | Solid or liquid water that falls from the water or air. |
| Condensation | The process of which water vapor changes into liquid water. |
| Permeable | Allows things to pass through them. |
| Infiltration | Process when rain water soaks into the ground, into the soil and underlying rock layers. |
