The cell cycle, or cell-division cycle, is the series of events that takes place in a cell leading to its division and duplication. Cell Cycle
The division of the cell nucleus and it's contents. Mitosis
The process that divides the cell cytoplasm. Cytokinesis
Long continuous DNA thread, consists of numerous genes and regulatory info. Chromosome
A group of proteins in chromosomes during the cell cycle. Histone
The loose combination of DNA and proteins. Chromatin
One half of a duplicated chromosome. Chromatid
A region of the condensed chromosome that looks pinched. Centromere
The ends of DNA molecules. Telomeres
Chromatin condenses into tightly coiled chromosomes. Prophase
Spindle fibers attach to a protein structure on the centromere of each chromosome and align the chromosomes along the cell equator, around the middle of the cell. Metaphase
Sister chromatids separate from each other. Anaphase
A complete set of identical chromosomes is positioned at each pole of the cell. Telophase
A broad group of proteins that stimulate cell division. Growth Factors

A class of diseases charactorized by uncontrolled cell division. Cancer

Groups of cells that work together to perform a similar function. Tissues
Groups of tissues that work together to perform a specific function or related functions. Organs
Organs that carry out similar functions. Organ systems
The process by which unspecialized cells develope into their mature forms and functions. Cell differentiation
Can divide and renew, remain undifferentiated, develope into a variety of specialized cell types. Stem Cells
