Dissociative Disorder a disorder characterized by a person's "splitting" from their situation into a fantasy state as a mode of handling stress.
Psychogenic Amnesia Most common DD; usually sudden and temporary; characterized by the inability to recall substantial personal info, too much to be forgetfulness; occurs as a result of traumatic event or difficult life situation.
Psychogenic Fugue Occurs when a person leaves their home/work and is unable to recall their identity; alcohol abuse may contribute to a fugue state.
Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) or Multiple Personality Disorder Presence of 2 or more distinct personalities, which emerge in stressful situations.
Depersonalization loss of reality and the ability to feel and express emotion; may have a fear of "going crazy"; not comfortable in their environment.
